Is God's will for my life really knowable?

Can an individual really know God's will for their life?
I have heard many people express the above question in one form or another. Usually this question surfaces at a point in an individual's life when they are ready to throw up their hands in frustration and quit. They have diligently pursued knowing the will of God for their life but for some unknown reason it has managed to eluded them. I can relate to how they feel. For many years I found myself running in circles chasing after God's will which always seemed to be just out of my grasp.

I recently recieved this photograph.

Look closely at the hounds who are eagerly ready for the command to be given for the hunt to begin. Their quest is to find the fox. They have been trained to hunt the elusive fox, and they are each eager to receive their master's praise for a job well done. BUT, they have over looked the obvious. The elusive fox was standing right in their midst all the time.

I think too many of us are busy running around in circles chasing after the will of God for our lives while overlooking or ignoring the obvious. God is more interested in us seeking HIM than what we are willing to do for HIM. Too often we are more eager to do something for God rather than simply seeking and acknowledging HIM in our daily living. GOD wants us to trust in and depend on HIM with every area of our lives. I've found the words of Proverbs 3:5 & 6 to be true -- "Trust in the LORD with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

Back to my original question -- Can an individual really know God's will for their life? I believe we can, but the understanding of what it is come out of the overflow of our fellowship with HIM. We too often become so fixated on finding the "fox" that we miss the obvious in our daily lives.
